Tesla opened up a new car store in Easton, Ohio. For anyone who lives in central Ohio they should have a good idea where Easton Town Center is. For those of you who don't live in buckeye country Easton is the trendy shopping center of Columbus, Ohio. Buckle, Tiffany and Co, Brio, Starbucks, Hollister, etc. those are the kinds of stores at Easton. Naturally it brings in middle and upper class shoppers who happen to stumble into the store. This is a great marketing move for Tesla. Since it is a small car company and needs brand recognition centering themselves in a high traffic shopping center attracts a lot of attention.
The store was abuzz with curious individuals. The atmosphere was much like an Apple store. No cash registers, no desks, just young hot shots sitting there with their iPads waiting to tell you everything you need to know about this up in coming car company that is the darling of Wall Street. They had two model S cars on display. With several more in the Easton garage less than a block away for customers to test. If you were at Detroit or any other auto show for that matter, the atmosphere in the Tesla booth was much like the atmosphere at the store. Everyone there seemed to be curious and excited about the cars with the "giant iPad in the center counsel."
Overall I was very impressed with the layout of the store and the service of the people. Everyone of the sales clerks seemed to know what they were talking about. Tesla has a great idea with no dealerships. Takes away the common hassle of buying a car. It will be interesting to see where the company goes in a few years. If Musk has it his way they'll probably go to Mars.

Oh hey.. That's simple. Easy enough to find. Considering the direction I come up from.. Down here in the southeastern side of the state.

70 to 270 north like you are going to the airport. Its past the airport to the north, not too hard to find

Not at all. Except I gotta hit 35 first.
There is a go kart track opening up there soon. So I'll have to be up there to look at that at some point. I frequent the one in Cinci.

Really? I did not know that there was a go kart track opening up around Columbus. My bank account might deplete soon!

A bit pricey like the one in Cinci, but it's so much fun.

Tesla has a store in the Indianapolis Fashion Mall.
Inside a freaking mall. The back end is a garage door where you can test drive them.
This was before the store was open to the public. If you go now, it's like the Apple store with a bunch of people playing with the cars. It's a pretty cool store

There is a Tesla store at Kenwood Shopping Center as well. Located outside of Cincinnati.

Looks about like the one in Easton Tesla are geniuses to do this. Brand recognition goes up, as does public awareness. Very very cool.

I used to swim with a lot of people from Granville and my girlfriend actually went there. I am closer to Heath though but still further out in the sticks.

Sounds like a great plan as long as I don't have conflicting schedules, perhaps an Opp meet up there would be good too!

That would be blast. Get ten or so people and rent it for 2 hours. I think it works out to around $100 a person or there about.

That's not horrible, could be worse. When does it open?
![]() 02/23/2014 at 16:33 |
|
Not 100% sure. Probably in a month or two. Seems like it's almost done, but even then an opportunity meet up would need to be planned way ahead of schedule.

Yes start planning for maybe going sometime in the summer on a weekend!

That's fine by me. I'll start doing some research and make a post or something at some point.

Do they do test drives around the mall floor? They really should.
![]() 02/23/2014 at 20:12 |
|
You can climb in the car and do about anything you want, the mall parking garage is supposed to have a few Tesla's that you can test drive.

Tesla has a thing like this in the Yorkdale shopping center in Toronto as well, the people who work there are nice but know nothing about cars other then random Tesla factoids,

I didn't quiz them on normal car knowledge here, but at least with Tesla facts they are knowledgeable. Pretty smart move by Tesla

I cant remember what I had asked them it was about a year ago, but I stumped the shit out of the guy, I think it was about how there chassis mock up was different from the normal car because it had suspension bracing to show the complete running gear.. or something.

It was hard to imagine that those guys selling the cars were gear heads and that bothered.
